Premier Team Tryouts
2025-2026
All players who wish to tryout for a Premier Team must register online. Regardless of if you are brand new to Sporting Kaw Valley, never played on an SKV team, or are currently playing on an SKV premier team, you must register your player for tryouts.
Even if you are unable to attend tryouts for some reason, you must register online. We use this information to make sure coaches have all the information on players who are interested in playing at the Premier level, and that we can reach you when necessary. It is vitally important that all players register for tryouts.
There is no fee to register your player or tryout for a team. We simply collect this data to help you have the best experience possible during tryouts.
We require all players interested in trying out for a premier team for the 2025-2026 seasons to register online prior to tryouts. Click the link above to register your player(s) for tryouts in Lawrence, Topeka, or Manhattan.

The word "tryout" can seem scary to players whether they're returning to the club or joining us for the first time. The important thing to remember is that we want you here! We'll make every effort to help you feel comfortable and get both you and your player ready for a fantastic day. Here's what you can expect:
-
DAY-OF EXPECTATIONS
- Please arrive 30 minutes before your designated start time to allow for check in procedures. If you attend a pre-check in event and you already have turned in your paperwork and your player has his/her tryout bib, then your player may go directly to his/her field and you do not need to check in at the registration tent.
- Make sure to have registered your player(s) online prior to your arrival. Make sure to bring a medical release for each player your bring. SKV will keep these forms.
Here's a few recommendations to help your player get the most out of his/her experience:
- Don't wear new shoes to tryouts, break them in before you arrive!
- Bring a ball, and wear your cleats / shin guards.
- Bring water and sunscreen.
- Bring an extra pair of shoes / slides to change into after tryouts are over.
-
ETIQUETTE DURING TRYOUTS
- We welcome your general questions about the club or a coach / team but please address those to the administrative staff on site, not the coach who is running your tryout.
- We have a very tight schedule, and coaches are busy making sure every player gets what they need. Do NOT ask your coach for a decision during tryouts.
- We will be contacting you after tryouts with more information (more about this in the next section, too).
- Parents, you are welcome to stay and watch, but we ask that you be respectful of the coaches and staff. Do not interfere with the tryout process, and do not address your player while they are with their group.
-
AFTER TRYOUTS & RESULTS
We know waiting can be hard, but we will take the time to evaluate each player after tryouts and make sure they are placed on both an age and skill level appropriate team. We take tremendous pride in putting the player's needs first, and really strive to ensure each child is in the best situation for them. Once we make those determinations, each coach will contact their players individually by phone, text, or email to let them know where they will be playing for the 2023-2024 season.
If you accept the position offered to you, then that information will be turned into our Club Registrar and you will receive an email from our Registrar. The email will have details on how to formally accept your position in our registration system and a deposit will be required to secure your position on the team. From then on if you have any questions or concerns please talk to your coach! They will be your best source of information regarding "what's next" and will be happy to help you get settled in and ready for the season.
